To design a new feature for WhatsApp which will allow users to create folders to share files such as photos, videos, documents, etc. in a more efficient and organised way.
A lot of people use WhatsApp to share files such as photos, videos, PDFs, etc. WhatsApp is widely used as it is extremely easy and user-friendly to share files. With only a few clicks one can share files from their device or forward from another chat. However, there is a drawback to this. Even though the sharing of files is very efficient, one thing WhatsApp doesn't do is organise these shared files. How many times have you tried to look for a particular file in one of your WhatsApp groups and you weren't able to find it amongst the thousands of text messages and hundreds of other shared files?!
Being a college student, I know first-hand the problem that other students and I face when studying one night before the exam from the notes shared by our teachers, primarily on WhatsApp. These notes are lost somewhere in the crowd of text messages and mixed up with other files on the 'Official Class Group'.
As a Product Designer, my task is to build a first-hand user experience for a user to be able to create folders that will solve the issue of unorganised file sharing on WhatsApp.
