This project was a part of my UI/UX Design Internship at Bipolar Factory. As I was working as an intern, I was given the responsibility of creating information architecture, wireframes and the final designs for the project. I conducted some small scale research independently for a better understanding of the product which I presented during the intensive brainstorming sessions with the project manager and lead engineer.
PS: This was a client project and we were tasked to build the software for an Automated Visual Inspection Machine.
Now... here we go!
Automated Visual Inspection (AVI) is a form of quality control, which involves the analysis of products in the production line with computer vision. It is a combination of Machine Vision technology with Computer Vision science applied to the industrial sector.
Machine vision has several advantages in comparison with human vision:
Higher optical resolution.
Measures absolute dimensions and intensity values.
Wider “visible” spectrum.
Very fast and precise calculations.
Higher processing speed.
“Absolute” memory.
Besides that, the automated visual inspection systems have several pros that are intrinsic to the entire machine kind:
Unbiased.
Persistent.
Work without fatigue.
Follow instructions unquestionably.
Can operate in risky conditions.
